Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.-
The manuscript is an original scholarly work, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration by another journal.
- The manuscript has been prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines of Youth in Central and Eastern Europe.
- All co-authors have reviewed the final version of the manuscript and approved its submission for publication.
- The manuscript intended for peer review has been properly anonymized in accordance with the journal's double-blind peer-review policy.
- All citations, references and bibliography entries have been carefully checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All required author metadata, including institutional affiliation, e-mail address and ORCID iD, have been provided.
- All sources of research funding have been disclosed, or the absence of funding has been declared.
- The authors have completed a Conflict of Interest Statement or confirmed that no conflict of interest exists.
- If artificial intelligence (AI) tools were used during the preparation of the manuscript, their use has been disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI Policy.
- Where applicable, information regarding ethics committee approval and/or informed consent has been included in the manuscript.
- All required files have been uploaded through the journal's online submission system.
- The authors have read and accepted the journal's Publication Ethics and editorial policies.
- The authors confirm that the submitted manuscript complies with all editorial and ethical requirements of Youth in Central and Eastern Europe.
Research Articles
This section publishes original research articles presenting empirical findings, theoretical analyses, or methodological studies related to youth and associated issues in the social sciences and humanities.
Submitted manuscripts must present original work that has not been previously published or submitted simultaneously to another journal.
All submissions undergo editorial assessment and double-blind peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policy.
The recommended length is 6,000–8,000 words, including the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Review Articles
This section publishes review articles providing a critical analysis and synthesis of current knowledge on youth and related issues in the social sciences and humanities.
Review articles should be based on a comprehensive analysis of the relevant literature, identify major research trends, highlight knowledge gaps, and propose directions for future research.
All submissions undergo editorial assessment and double-blind peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policy.
The recommended length is 6,000–9,000 words, including the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Research Reports
This section publishes concise reports presenting empirical research findings, preliminary results of research projects, data analyses, and reports on studies related to youth and associated issues in the social sciences and humanities.
Research reports should clearly present the study objectives, methodology, key findings, and conclusions. Submitted manuscripts must present original work that has not been previously published or submitted simultaneously to another journal.
All submissions undergo editorial assessment and double-blind peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policy.
The recommended length is 3,000–5,000 words, including the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Commentaries
This section publishes scholarly commentaries addressing current issues related to youth and the social sciences and humanities. Commentaries may provide critical analyses of contemporary social phenomena, discuss recently published research, present methodological reflections, engage in academic debate, or offer evidence-based perspectives on issues within the journal's scope.
Commentaries should present the author's original perspective, be supported by sound scholarly argumentation, and refer to relevant academic literature.
All submissions undergo editorial assessment and double-blind peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policy.
The recommended length is 2,000–4,000 words, including the abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Book Reviews
This section publishes reviews of books related to youth and the social sciences and humanities. Book reviews should provide a critical evaluation of the publication's scholarly value, originality, methodology, contribution to the field, and relevance for future research.
Reviews should include complete bibliographic information about the book under review and present a balanced, evidence-based scholarly assessment.
Book reviews are subject to editorial assessment. Where appropriate, the Editorial Board may request an external peer review.
The recommended length is 800–1,500 words.
Editorial
This section publishes editorials prepared by the Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editors, or invited members of the Editorial Board. Editorials introduce the theme and objectives of an issue, discuss current developments in the field, initiate scholarly debate, and provide information relevant to the journal and its readership.
Editorials are introductory or policy-oriented contributions and do not constitute original research articles.
Editorials are subject to editorial assessment only and are not sent for double-blind peer review.
The recommended length is 1,000–2,000 words.
Copyright Notice
Authors retain full copyright to their published works. Submission of a manuscript does not constitute a transfer of copyright to the Publisher.
Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant the Publisher a non-exclusive licence to publish and disseminate the article in accordance with the editorial policies of Youth in Central and Eastern Europe.
The journal content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) licence.

Personal data are processed exclusively for:
- managing the editorial workflow,
- communication with authors, reviewers, and editors,
- conducting peer review,
- publishing scholarly articles,
- maintaining editorial records and archives.
Personal data are not used for marketing purposes and are not disclosed to third parties except where required by law.
4. Disclosure of Personal Data
Personal data are accessible only to individuals involved in the editorial process according to their roles within the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
After publication, only information necessary to identify the published work is made publicly available, including:
- author's name,
- institutional affiliation,
- ORCID identifier (if provided).
5. Data Retention
Personal data are retained for as long as necessary to complete the editorial process and to preserve the scholarly record in accordance with applicable legal and institutional requirements.
6. Rights of Data Subjects
Individuals whose personal data are processed have the right to:
- access their personal data,
- request correction of inaccurate data,
- request restriction of processing,
- request deletion where permitted by law,
- lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
