Submissions

Thank you for your interest in publishing your research in Youth in Central and Eastern Europe (YCEE).

YCEE is an international peer-reviewed scholarly journal operating under the Diamond Open Access publishing model. Authors are not charged any fees for manuscript submission, peer review or publication, and all published articles are freely accessible to readers worldwide.

Before submitting your manuscript, please familiarize yourself with the documents available in the For Authors section, particularly the Author Guidelines, editorial policies and publication ethics requirements.

1. Preparing Your Manuscript

Before beginning the submission process, authors should prepare their manuscript in accordance with the current Author Guidelines. The manuscript should fall within the journal's scope, comply with the required structure and citation style, and meet all editorial and ethical requirements.

Authors should also prepare all required submission files, including an anonymized manuscript for peer review and any additional documents required by the Editorial Office.

2. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts are accepted exclusively through the journal's electronic Open Journal Systems (OJS) submission platform.

During submission, authors are requested to:

  • complete all required metadata;
  • provide their ORCID iD (where available);
  • identify sources of research funding (where applicable);
  • complete all required declarations;
  • confirm compliance with the journal's editorial policies.

3. Initial Editorial Assessment

After submission, every manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to verify its suitability for the journal, completeness of documentation, quality of preparation and compliance with editorial requirements and publication ethics.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or declined before entering peer review.

4. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial assessment are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process conducted in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process to ensure fairness, impartiality and scientific integrity.

5. Editorial Decision

Following peer review, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final editorial decision based on the reviewers' recommendations and the manuscript's scientific quality and relevance to the journal.

Authors may receive one of the following decisions:

  • acceptance for publication;
  • acceptance subject to minor revisions;
  • major revisions and resubmission for further evaluation;
  • rejection.

6. Copyediting and Publication

Following acceptance, the manuscript enters the editorial production stage, which includes copyediting, typesetting and preparation of the final proof for author approval.

The corresponding author receives the proof version for final verification. At this stage, only editorial corrections and the correction of minor errors are permitted. After the proof has been approved, the article is published online, assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and made available through the journal's indexing and abstracting services.

7. Before You Submit

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that:

  • the manuscript is an original scholarly work;
  • it has not been previously published or submitted simultaneously to another journal;
  • all co-authors have approved the submission;
  • an anonymized version of the manuscript has been prepared for double-blind peer review;
  • all required information regarding authorship, funding and conflicts of interest has been provided.

8. Publication Fees

Youth in Central and Eastern Europe operates under the Diamond Open Access publishing model.

Authors are not charged any fees for:

  • manuscript submission;
  • peer review;
  • editorial processing;
  • publication of accepted articles;
  • open access dissemination of published content.
