Open Access Policy (DOA)

Youth in Central and Eastern Europe is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published under the Diamond Open Access model, providing immediate, permanent and free access to all published articles.

The Editorial Team supports the principles of open access to scholarly research, recognizing that unrestricted access to scientific knowledge promotes research development, increases the visibility of published work and strengthens international scientific collaboration.

1. Diamond Open Access Model

All articles published in the journal are made freely available immediately upon publication without any embargo period.

The Diamond Open Access model means that:

  • all readers have free and unrestricted access to the full text of published articles;
  • authors are not charged any fees for manuscript submission, peer review or publication;
  • the journal does not charge subscription fees to institutions or readers.

2. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Youth in Central and Eastern Europe does not charge:

  • submission fees;
  • peer-review fees;
  • Article Processing Charges (APCs);
  • Open Access publication fees.

Publishing in the journal is completely free of charge for authors.

3. Copyright

Authors retain full copyright to their published work.

Authors grant the Publisher a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute and archive the article through the journal website, bibliographic databases, indexing services and scholarly repositories.

4. Creative Commons License

Articles are published under the following license:

Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)

This license permits:

  • downloading and storing published articles;
  • copying and sharing articles with others;
  • distributing published work through non-commercial channels.

Users are required to:

  • provide appropriate credit to the author and the journal;
  • maintain the integrity of the original work;
  • not use the material for commercial purposes;
  • not create derivative works without permission from the copyright holder.

5. Self-Archiving Policy

Authors are encouraged to deposit the published Version of Record immediately after publication in:

  • institutional repositories;
  • disciplinary repositories;
  • ORCID profiles;
  • ResearchGate;
  • Academia.edu;
  • university and research institute websites;
  • personal academic websites.

The Editorial Office kindly requests that authors include the complete bibliographic citation together with the DOI linking to the published version available on the journal website.

6. Digital Archiving

All articles published in Youth in Central and Eastern Europe are permanently archived and remain freely accessible without time limitations.

Each published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring permanent identification, reliable citation and long-term accessibility.

The journal archive is maintained using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, which supports the long-term preservation and integrity of published scholarly content.

7. Journal Funding

The publication of Youth in Central and Eastern Europe is funded by the Publisher and institutions supporting the journal's scientific activities.

The absence of publication fees for authors and readers does not influence editorial independence or the peer-review process. All editorial decisions are based exclusively on the scientific quality, originality and relevance of submitted manuscripts, in accordance with the principles of research integrity and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

8. Compliance with International Standards

The journal's Open Access Policy is consistent with the principles and recommendations of:

  • Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI);
  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE);
  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

The Editorial Team actively supports the development of Open Science, research transparency and unrestricted global access to scholarly knowledge.

10. Open Science Statement

Youth in Central and Eastern Europe supports the principles of Open Science by promoting research transparency, responsible sharing of scientific knowledge and the dissemination of research outputs whenever ethically and legally appropriate.

Authors are encouraged to share research data, supplementary materials, research instruments and other supporting resources whenever possible, provided that doing so complies with ethical standards, legal requirements and personal data protection regulations.

The Editorial Team supports initiatives that improve research transparency, reproducibility and responsible reuse of scientific knowledge in accordance with internationally recognized standards of good research practice.

This Open Access Policy has been developed in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), and the standards of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
