Abstrakt

Celem tekstu było przeanalizowanie społecznych i kulturowych mechanizmów percepcji zaburzeń odżywiania u młodzieży i młodych dorosłych. W oparciu o narracyjny przegląd literatury przedmiotu, obejmujący 35 publikacji z lat 2000–2025, omówiono poziom wiedzy o zaburzeniach odżywiania (mental health literacy – MHL), procesy stygmatyzacji i autostygmatyzacji, stereotypy związane z płcią, masą ciała oraz pochodzeniem etnicznym. Wyniki wskazują, że świadomość problematyki zaburzeń odżywiania pozostaje niska, szczególnie w odniesieniu do rzadziej rozpoznawanych zaburzeń, populacji mężczyzn oraz grup etnicznych. Stygmatyzacja i stereotypy obniżają gotowość do poszukiwania pomocy, a luki w wiedzy występują nie tylko u pacjentów, ale także wśród specjalistów i nauczycieli. Badacze problematyki podkreślają konieczność rozwoju edukacji zdrowotnej i szkoleń adresowanych do młodzieży i otoczenia społecznego, aby ograniczyć opóźnienia w diagnozie oraz bariery w leczeniu.
